Have you purchased Solar PV / Solar Panels and the earnings and savings received were not as you were promised?

You could be entitled to claim compensation.

For a number of years companies have been advising that buying a solar system would be a fantastic investment, not just financially but also environmentally. The environmental investment is not disputed. However, the financial benefit of these systems has been hugely exaggerated. Many purchases of these systems were told that the would “pay for themselves” or that they would be “self funding”. Some salesmen even went as far to say it was “subsidised by the government”.

The income from the systems was often exaggerated to get the consumer to sign up to finance to purchase the systems. Often, the level of income was nowhere near enough to cover the loan repayments leaving consumers with a hefty monthly payment to meet as well as still paying for electricity.

In 2011 consumer rights group Which? Found 9 out of 12 companies selling solar panels gave inaccurate estimates about how much energy they would produce. This level of dishonesty combined with aggressive sales techniques has led to a host of solar panel mis-selling cases.

If you think you have been mis-sold panels in the last 5 years and you purchased the panels with finance please contact us to discuss further. You can still make a claim even if the merchant is no longer trading.

  • We obtain a survey entirely paid up front by ourselves that is only billable to a client upon a successful claim.
Our surveys generally reveal hidden issues with client’s PV systems exceeding £5,000 to rectify.
  • These issues are becoming more serious over time and if left untreated can result in escalating costs and even the failure of the systems. This can lead to clients having no recourse from the solar company who sold the system if the solar company has ceased to trade.
  • Not only do we hold any lender who has financed the purchase accountable for the issues with the solar system but the majority of our surveys demonstrate little benefit in purchasing the systems after repaying the finance. As such we can obtain remedies such as full refunds of all payments made and loan balances being entirely written off.
  • Where lenders are made accountable for the issues we can also make them honour the warranty periods that would have prevailed if the solar companies were still in business thus providing peace of mind for our customers for the future.
